Have I Got News For You namechecks my cat

Chris Jackson | 10:48 UK time, Sunday, 18 October 2009

I have spent a surreal weekend getting texts, emails and calls about our unexpected appearance on Friday's Have I Got News For You.

Studio set of Have I Got News For You - Hat Trick Productions Ltd
Guest presenter Martin Clunes asked the two teams to complete the mystery headline "Cat signs up.....".

"Hang on", I thought, "this couldn't possibly be about George could it?"

It sure was. I nearly fell off the sofa, taking George with me. After Paul Merton and Ian Hislop had a failed but comedic attempt at guessing it was who'd obviously been keeping a closer eye on the week's news.

Missing headline caption. Cat signs up... then words blacked out - Hat Trick Productions LtdThe answer: "Cat signs up as Hypnotherapist".

Martin then kindly gave our show a nice little plug and of course a gag about George the Hypnocat's abilities. I won't repeat it here so as not to ruin the punch line if you want to watch the post watershed show on the 91Èȱ¬ iPlayer.

It had already been a madcap week for George as I revealed on Wednesday's blog.

Since he's been making the headlines I haven't quite had to get George to wear shades and a disguise every time he leaves the house but it's getting close.

In case you were wondering the satire show's guest publication of the week was also about animals. Llama Link is the publication of the who probably enjoyed the teasing and extra publicity as much as I did.
