Scene 1
Characters: Amelia, Roxy, Policeman.
Friday night, after school. Roxy is hanging around outside Harrison's newsagents. Lights go up. Enter Amelia stage right.
ROXY: (desperately) Hey you?! Go and steal me a bottle of vodka and be quick about it!
AMELIA: (Quickly) But I don't steal and I'm too young to drink.
ROXY: (shouting) Just go!
Amelia slowly walks into the shop. Spotlight on Amelia. She carefully picks up a bottle of vodka and without looking around her, she puts the vodka inside her jacket. Lights go up .The door then opens. Enter Policeman stage right. She gets a fright and drops the vodka. It smashes on the ground.
POLICEMAN: (puzzled) What are you doing young lady?
Roxy hears the big smash and runs into the shop.
ROXY: I just told you to get the vodka!
POLICEMAN: (sternly) I think I'd better take you down to the station.
Scene 2
Characters: Amelia, Roxy, Policeman, Amelia's Mum, Roxy's Mum.
The girls are at the police station being interviewed. The policeman has already called their Mums. Amelia is in first. They are sitting around a table.
AMELIA: (near to tears) It was that nasty girl, she made me do it. She didn't let me get a word in edge ways. Honest.
POLICEMAN: (monotone, but with authority) I will ask your mum and see what she thinks.
AMELIA'S MUM: (sincerely) I think she is telling the truth. She never lies.
The Policeman nods his head. They go outside the interview room and meet Roxy and her Mum.
To Roxy.
POLICEMAN: (strictly) You (pause) will face the children's panel.
Amelia hugs her mum. Roxy shows her anger through tightening her face, crossing her arms and thumping down on a chair. The Policeman turns around and shakes Amelia and her Mum's hands. Lights down.
This is just one of the pressures that face teenagers in today's society. The script relates to alcoholism which is a problem in most areas.
