Enjoying chinese new year

Birmingham's Chinese New Year will be celebrated on Sunday 13 February, at the Arcadian Centre, Hurst Street in Birmingham's Chinese Quarter. The Year of the Rooster will be welcomed with an exciting afternoon of entertainment including the Dragon Dance, music and martial arts demonstrations.

Chinese opera

Councillor John Alden, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture said: "This afternoon of free family entertainment gives a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year. The event is part of a year long calendar of community events supported by Birmingham City Council."

Being a chinese lion

The sound of firecrackers and the Dragon Dance will start the celebration at听 1pm. The programme includes Chinese Karaoke, traditional and contemporary dance, Chinese Opera, a fashion show, rope skipping and martial arts demonstrations.
