Hi, I'm Stuart and I play the role of Goody in the show. I
found out about the show through work, 'coz I work here as
an usher, the managers told me all about it and they I should
audition and I came along. The rest is history.
The
rehearsals started on the 9th August and the auditions were
way back in June. So far, we've gone though all the big numbers
and the dances and now we're just piecing it all together
and getting it all 'flowing'.
This
is my first musical I've done and I'm very nervous. With two
weeks to go it's a very big task to do a full scale musical.
I
usually go the Crescent Youth Theatre where I've done a lot
of acting work and backstage work for them aswell. This would
be the main thing I've done so far.
In
the show, Goody is a musician student. He plays the all instruments
including the Cello - he's a cheeky little lad who's quite
quiet who pops up everywhere.
As
for the character being like me - yes and no - I have my moments,
on the whole I'd say I was. The best thing that's happened
is meeting all the new people.
Everybody
is great here and there are a load of new friends I've made
which is possibly the best thing as well. I knew one person
before I came (he plays Tyrone, the lead) but apart from that
I didn't know anyone. He works here as well and I knew him
from work.
A
normal day starts at 10am with a vocal warm up, and then we'll
go through all the big numbers and get the songs done. We
then break up into groups and do different sections, go through
lines and practice dances.
In
the afternoon, we all go onto the stage and run it as much
as possible. After this, I'll like to do more musicals. If
I can do this in two weeks - then anything else should be
a lot easier. I can't wait to do more.
Everyone
seems to enjoy themselves, its hard work but I'm sure we'll
make it in time and I can't wait till the opening night.
