Friday
6th September
I haven't been in for over a week now Â… so have missed
the place a little *big aaaaahhhhh*. I came in today around
10am and me and Sarah had a little development meeting in
the very funky Making It Happen area.
After
making a little plan into what I am going to be working on,
I was set off into a mission to find out as much as possible
into what's on for young people within the Birmingham area.
Off I went phoning and searching the net.
I
managed to have an interview with Willard Wigan and we made
that into a nice package for the Blast website with photos
and some brilliant quotes.
We
then had a group lunch out to 'Big Wok' in the Chinese Quarter!
All you can eat for a fiver! C'mon. We even had a little mini
competition to see who could eat the most! I didn't win!
I've
come back, updated the diary and am now continuing on my mission
- making numerous phone calls and sending loads of emails.
Keep
an eye out to see the results I come back with in the next
few weeks,.
This
was one of my busiest weeks of the Summer!
I
reviewed DJ workshops, met loads of boy bands (random!) and
had my name screamed across the centre of Brum on the Saturday
night!
My
working week started on Tuesday when I went down to Anim8's
DJ Workshop with Punch Records. I met some great people there,
including Dakheem who had a lot to say. The talent within
the group was great and I'm looking forward too hearing their
final result. Elise (the project manager) was great as well
and really funny! That was a nice story and I think the article
came out really well!!
First
thing Wednesday morning, I popped into the office, picked
up a camera then headed off to Solihull to check out the young
people's road show in Touchwood. This was a great event, although
badly organised - but all the girls there seemed to be enjoyed
themselves. There I met my first boyband for the week called
Free Faller - I had a chat and an interview with them and
watched them perform. They really got the crowds warmed up!
I
also met TV presenter-meet singer-meet model, Laura Jay! Next,
it was a mad dash around town to the city centre. The trains
decided not to run, so it was a mad rush to find a bus that
quickly went to Birmingham City Centre.
I
got to town in the nick of time and met the second boyband
of the week - Frixion at Starbucks in Martienua Place - where
we had another long chat and I found out some interesting
gossip - including that Neil think he's a tiger and Mike think
he's an elephant! Anyway Â….. nice guys!
Thursday
saw me sit on a train for 4 hours as I went to Minehead to
the Butlins resort - were my band, D:RAIL (the 3rd boyband
of the week) were playing! That was a wicked evening, with
free food and drink all night - including a raid of Pizza
Hut (especially the Garfield Goody Bags!) The funniest moments
of the night had to be having a chat with Derek from D-Side
in the bogs (as ya do!) and also nearly tripping up Lisa Mafia
- after Butlins we made a quick dash over to another holiday
park where the lads performed and where we slept over the
night.
Friday
saw me coming back to Brum where I went to look for different
locations to hold a launch party for the D:RAIL charity single!
Nothing to interest for you my friends!
On
Saturday night, I went to see the finale of 'Fame The Musical'
at The Alexandra Theatre - in which I interviewed some of
the cast beforehand. That was a WICKED show as you can see
from my review. I also know some of the cast, so I met up
with them afterwards and one of the young girls from the cast
must of recognised me, when I was getting into my taxi as
she decided to SCCRRREEEEEAMMMM my name at the top of her
voice - I felt like a celebrity actually!!
Sunday
had a D:RAIL roadshow in Norfolk. It's a shame the turn-out
wasn't great but those who were there enjoyed themselves -
while I met the likes of Michelle Gayle and new top20 girl
band Munroe - as well as the final boyband of the week - Ice!
Who have great tracks but they're Â… welllÂ… hmmmÂ…
Enuff said!
Week
five saw another busy week - researching and writing up articles
for site, I wanted to do something on writing so I hooked
up with 'sampad' who were running a poetry writing competition
about the weather and wrote up a short article/feature on
that. This involved me randomly walking around the Central
Library and taking random photos! Haha!
I
also noticed that there is a lack of writing related activities
and groups for young people - even if they're available they
are VERY poorly advertised. Just thought that I'd mention
thatÂ….
I
also did some finishing up with articles and getting my Fame
review all typed up and sorted - I am most proud of that one,
it looks wicked! I've also made a few friends from people
in the cast as well which was great - and it was great to
see them pre-show, during the show and post show and created
a nice full feature.
OK,
this Thursday for everyone was results day! Da da da! For
me they weren't too bad. I got 6 C's in English, English Lit,
Maths, Double Science and French. Music earned me a B and
I got an A in Drama and RS! So, I passed them all and I feel
they were good results! JJ's happy - just glad they're done!
Also
this week - JJ had more celeb meetage with the likes of Peter
Andre and Katie Price as well as the foolish Blazin' Squad.
I also met the lovely Sugababes and had a quick hello, again,
with Michelle Gayle and nearly tripped up one of the Munroe
girls.
Guess
who was on the train on Monday morning - when I was getting
the train back from Colchester to London Liverpool Street
Â…. Harry Judd from McFly!! I sat and chatted to him for
the hours journey and we had a nice little mingle - forgot
to get his phone number tho! *doh* - he was off to a rehearsal
in London with his mate. He had some really cool beads which
I wanted! Haha!
I
also got offered another job for next summer - at a radio
station in East Anglia - while I was in Chelmsford presenting
this music festival on Thursday and Friday (as you do!). That
was wicked - and managed 2 get the kids in the audience to
buy me loads of free food and drink! Lovely Â…. I'm just
sick of the 'Cha Cha Slide' - we had it on sooooooooooooooooooo
many times!
Well
then my love-lees, until next time Â…..
