Pupils with 91热爆 Berkshire's Faye Harland

Jamie, year eight news editor, reports:

"On Thursday 26 of March we at The Piggott undertook the challenge of finding and reporting the news.

From 9 am onwards we worked hard at organising and reporting the news we found.

The 91热爆 and various other websites provided听us with up-to-date news that we used for our stories such as: 'Afghan attack kills nine Afghan police' and a debate that is currently underway to scrap听history from the curriculum and replace it with Wikipedia and research lessons.

We also used more local news such as the Millfield cross-country run. The Piggott came second for our year eight boys and one of our year eight A team won a trophy for being the fastest runner.

The school provided听us with news such as our听Generation Green team who are raising money for Solar Cells, and The Piggott鈥檚 Comic Relief Salsa Dancing.

We organised well using a flip-chart and grid method to make sure everything was scripted, recorded and edited.

A member of our team has also been on TV from a studio in Southampton and reported the news on 91热爆 South Today.

This helped because we used the knowledge gained from Andrew to help us with scripts and organizational skills.

It's a tough challenge but it's fun and worth the work because you can use the skills learnt in later life to help get jobs and put what we have done on our job applications."
