We're at the Reading Festival inside the Carling tent, waiting for local band Pete and the Pirates to make their festival debut in their home town.

The band stroll on, pick up their various bits of equipment and say their hellos. "I never thought I'd say this at a gig - but 'good morning'", says singer Tom. Opening with Bright Lights, the band deliver a 21-minute set brimming with eminently听 English songs that burgeon with throwaway harmonies and that are punctuated with a foot-stomping spike. It's a brilliantly commanding performance, but you can form your opinions by watching the exclusive video of their set.
