Find out more about them and listen to a track. The Big River Bandits debut album, 'The Single Life' released by Eden Records on 22 October 2007 is receiving outstanding reviews by DJ's all over the world and in major publications.Track number two, 'High Wire' reached number 11 in The UK's unsigned charts. Three more tracks have been released on compilation albums in The USA.Lead singers Renee Sears and Gerry Power, who co-write the original material for the band, met and formed a hi-tech covers duo in January 2003 and later went on to form a trio and function band. Previously they had both been writing and performing in other bands covering pop, rock, jazz, blues and country. They started writing country rock and bluegrass music together, and in 2005 four of their songs were played on radio stations in Australia, Germany and The Netherlands. Now most of their songs can be heard on听 radio and internet stations all over the world. With a change of name to The Big River Bandits in 2007, they have gone from strength to strength with their unique blend of country rock, country swing, bluegrass and rockabilly. With an occasional traditional country song too! The band has a great line up with Renee Sears singing lead, backing and harmony vocals, Gerry Power on lead guitar, lead, backing and harmony vocals, John Joce on bass guitar, backing and harmony vocals, Ken Smith on pedal steel, harmonica with backing and harmony vocals, and new drummer, Mark Holmes. Renee and Gerry's writing has been influenced by some of the great singers they've covered such as Martina McBride, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bonnie Raitt, Gary Allen, Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks. They are now seeking management and hoping to tour The UK and Europe in the very near future. Although not the most popular genre in Britain, they hope to grab the attention of the media with their new style and bring country rock into the limelight. last updated: 28/08/2008 at 14:09 Have Your Say
