What makes you laugh?

"I'm a big fan of Tommy Cooper, Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais. I also love some of the TV classics such as the Two Ronnies, Fawltey Towers and even Dad’s Army. There’s a lot of funny stuff about today too, like Little Britain and Dead Ringers and of course some of the quiz shows like Have I Got News For You and They Think It’s All Over."

What’s your most embarrassing moment on air?

"In a previous life, when I was a sports reporter I was sent to cover the arrival of Gordon Strachan as the new manager of Southampton FC. We had all sorts of technical problems and I only just got on air by the skin of the my teeth just as the press conference started. I rushed in with my first question - beating all the national hacks - and said 'Gordon, are you the right man for the job?' He replied 'No, if you ask a silly question you get a silly answer.' The clip still gets played on Sky!"

Where is your favourite place in Berkshire?

"We’ve got some beautiful countryside around Berkshire – I enjoy walking on the Ridgeway and out in West Berkshire around Walbury Hill and Coombe Gibbet near Hungerford. As for the towns, I love Windsor – there’s so much to do there. It’s a great place to entertain."ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý

What are your most memorable jobs before working for 91Èȱ¬ Radio Berkshire?ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý

"My first job was on a building site in Kent. I had to sweep out the Ropery at Chatham Dockyard – it’s the longest tiled building in the UK: a quarter of a mile long and it’s where they used to made ropes for the Navy’s wooden warships!"

What’s your favourite piece of music?

" That is the hardest question ever – where do I start? I have a massive CD collection. I’m a big fan of Kylie, but at the moment in the car I have Dido, Coldplay and James Blunt – also a lot of the cheesy 70’s disco stuff, but my ultimate musical era is late 80’s – early 90’s."

Hi Jim, It was a pleasure to meet yourself and the team at the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday. You did a great job in covering the event! Best wishes on behalf of all of us at Phillips-Fit Personal Training, Reading.

I am running the reading half marathon with my friend Peter Snell. We are running for CRY (cardiac risk in the young) and i am running in a big heart suit. Peter broke his leg several weeks ago and is therefore going to attempt the half marathon on crutches!! If you don't believe it go and watch!

I don`t know whether you can put out a warning to people - In london rd by Cholmely rd there is a car parked its been there for about three weeks. it is covered with posters offering to dispose of your unwanted car. it also says they will notify the dvla. this is very dangerous for a start it is the owners responsibility to contact dvla when selling also if you have not insured they are notified the car is still in your name and any offences will be down to the registered owner.

Jim, at about 6.00 on Friday morning you played a number which I believe was Beach Baby by First Class. I think that song was a hit in 1974. Having checked with "record" stores in Fleet I can't trace this number is available. The nearest my research gets me is possibly it was on a CD entitled "The Very best of First Class". Can you give me any information on where you obtained this track(Beach Baby)? Regards, Peter
