Punch and Judy puppets from a Victorian set. Each professor (pupeteer)made his own puppets. It was traditional for the puppets to be burned or buried with the Professor when he died. This set survived because it belonged to Professor Smith, the most famous professor at the end of the nineteenth century. He performed a number of times in Buckingham Palace.
