Brought in by noted maritime historian Dr Alec Gill. They were given to him by a friend who worked in the local fishing industry. The wooden net needles were used to repair fishing nets, by men, women and children. The three needles together symbolise the whole of the former fishing community which was based around Hull's Hessle Road.
