Jenni Murray's object is a deck of cards which were specially made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woman'?s Hour in 1996.
Every card in the deck features a woman from history, and the four aces feature the four greatest women, as chosen by the Woman's Hour team: Simone de Beauvoir, Billie Holliday, Jane Austen, and Queen Elizabeth I.
The kings are four leading stateswomen: Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir and Benazir Bhutto. Indeed, the latter was interviewed on the programme by Jenni when she first became prime minister of Pakistan. And the two jokers in the pack are, of course, comedians. The two chosen were Victoria Wood and Joyce Grenfell.
The choices were made by the Woman's Hour team. The cards were distributed by Gibsons, and the programme producers had a pack to every gentleman's club in the country.
