This object is part of one of the effigies from the local church in Abergavenny. It's an alabaster bedesman. A bedesman was paid to pray for the soul of a rich man who was too busy to pray for himself.
When the church was renovated and the effigy was cleaned this little carving was found tucked away around the back of it where nobody would ever see it. A lovely example of medieval carving with the original paint still on it.
