The Abbey's tenor bell weighs 33 cwt, about the same as a small car! It is inscribed: 'All of you Bathe that hear me sound Thank Lady Hopton's hundred pound'. In 1897 it was restored so that the city could ring a peal for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. It can be heard across the city as it strikes the hour and whenever the bells are rung. It can be seen on the Abbey Tower Tour.
