The Four Bath Worthies – BOBC

This portrait features four of the key figures in the story of how Georgian Bath was built. Ralph Allen, the dominant figure sitting down on the left, was responsible for developing the stone mines in Combe Down - reducing the cost of Bath stone and making a fortune in the process. John Wood the Elder, on the far right, was the most important architect of the Georgian city, responsible for Queen Square and the Circus.
