Baltimore Album Quilts - American Museum

Prized for their skill and bold design, true Baltimore Album quilts were only made in Baltimore between 1846 and 1852. The Museum's stunning 10-foot example is considered to be the finest of its type in the world by quilt experts. The exceptional skill of the needlewomen, who appliquéd the blocks with white thread, are particularly noted. The layout of the blocks is well balanced and the quilting is outstanding with approximately twenty stitches per inch.
