These carved timber sections are the window heads from the Guesten Hall, a fine 14th century timber-framed building belonging to Great Malvern Priory. The windows were not glazed, as glass was expensive. Internal shutters would have been used to protect the occupants from the worst of the weather.

The more important visitors to the monastery, as well as the prior's personal guests would stay at the Guesten Hall. Great Malvern Priory acted as host to two reigning monarchs; HENRY III and later HENRY VII who is said to have stayed with his queen and two sons, Arthur and the future HENRY VIII.
