These postcards were made in france 1916.They were sent from my great grandfather, to my great grandmother (Gladis)during the first worls war.My great grandfather was born in Scotland, his name was Reganiled. They were hand sewn by people in France, they have little notes inside them; one of them says 'To my dear sweetheart from your loving Reg' and the other one says 'forget me not'.
This was the only way they could communicate during the war,but the thing I that is most clear about these postcards is that they were made and written with love. Kay's great grandmother worked as a nurse in the first world war she worked there for a living as this was a very valuble job and you earnt about 3 shillings but that was alot of money in those days.
I think that these postcards should be entered into the history of the world challenge because it tells a story about how hard the war must have been for people to communicate to their loved ones and if people could not put exactly where they were incase their mail got taken and the Gearmans BOMBED them!!!
