Have you ever wondered how a sash window actually works? This working model demonstrates the mechanics of the ubiquitous sash window and shows the ingenuity of the design which hides the working parts behind elegant joinery and built in shutters. This sash window also demonstrates the evolution in glass making techniques over the past 250 years. Different panes are made from 18th century crown glass, 19th century cylinder sheet glass and modern float glass.
