This carving of an Ox can be found in the porch area of the Temple of Piety. The Temple of Piety was originally designed and built under John Aislabie, in 1729 - 1730, and was thought to be a dedication to Hercules. The Temple was designed to be a cool summer house in a shady part of the Water Garden. Overlooking the Moon Pond, the Temple used to house many statues, used purely as decoration.
