Used at Dinnington Colliery (South Yorkshire)which first opened in 1905 and closed in 1992 with the loss of over 1,000 jobs. It was made by the Protector Lamp and Lighting Co. from Manchester, and used by my Uncle, Robert Marriott who worked as a welder at the pit until he retired. These lamps were used in mines (and still are), to check for firedamp.
